Hi all! Just a quick video post of Kylah and Zoe dancing on the stage during the candlelight service on Christmas Eve at UBC… no they weren’t in the program
Austin and Bella dropped by today! It was great to see them both! Kylah loved playing with Bella, so I put together this quick video. It’s also especially for Rachel (Bella’s mom) who is at their home in Minaki (about 25 hours North!!!!) and is missing her a LOT! So here you go Rach!
We did a lot this Sunday, so I put a little video together showing what we did.
Other things that happened:
- Sandi stopped by with an amazing banana bread cake and a card for us! All I can say is mmmmmmmmm!
- UBC posted a congratulations to us for Liam in their bulletin.
- Bree called and she and Zoe are coming for lunch on WEDNESDAY!!!! YAY!!!!!!!! I can’t wait to see them!
- Oh ya, Liam had his special trip to the manhood doctor. Let’s just say now he could be Jewish if he wanted to.
Anyway, without further adieu, here’s the video:
This isn’t the first video like this, and judging by how Kylah feels about Liam, I’m sure this isn’t going to be the last!
Up to this point we were helping Kylah “hold” Liam. Those of you who know Kylah will know how particular about things she is, so she decided she would not have anyone around her while she held Liam. It was very cute, and well, I guess I don’t need to give a play-by-play… you can just watch. Oh, one thing, yes I’m the one who taught Kylah to pick her nose
Hey Everyone!! It’s Mama Laura here.
So we’re home and happy and healthy. Just thought I’d share with you Liam’s birth story!
I was in latent labour for about 30 hours (I must have a really low pain tolerance because youch! It hurt like a banchee!!) Anyway, we met my midwife at the hospital at around 10am on Saturday December 1st. She did all her checks and said I was JUST 2cm but having regular contractions. She was feeling around my belly and had a really small suspicion that the baby was breech but when she did her internal exam she was sure she felt the head! She even did a sonogram and thought she saw everything where it was supposed to be. She called in the on-call OB to check me out and he said the same thing… he thought everything was fine!
Sooo… they gave me a few options.
1. I could go home and wait a bit longer and see where the contractions go and then meet at the hospital again for an assessment
2. Start oxytocin (sp?) which is a huge risk for me considering I had a c-section only 20 months before. The contractions could be too strong and then other interventions would just lead me to a c-section again etc… if I was really set on trying a VBAC this wasn’t the route to go.
3. Just book a c-section and get the baby out.
At this point I was not prepared to go back home and see where things would take me…. I just knew in my gut that I could be in pain for who knows how long and nothing would progress. I asked for a c-section.
They got things rolling right away, hooked me up to an IV, took my blood, got me into a gown. The doctor came back in and said they’d be ready for me at 1:30pm.
I got pushed back until 2:00 and then 2:30… but they got me into the OR, did the spinal, called my husband in and we were set to go!!
Right when they opened me up, the OB looked at my midwife and said “The baby is breech!!”
I couldn’t believe it… I was so relieved for the decision I had made. I could’ve gone home, waited it out and then come back and needed a c-section anyway.
So, after a lot of tugging out came a BOY!!!!!! I couldn’t believe it!! So exciting!
He was 8lbs 9oz born at 2:43pm on Saturday December 1st, 2007!
His big sister Kylah is amazing with him. The first time she met him it was like we were experiencing a miracle right before our eyes… the instant bond was incredible.
Thanks for all your prayers. We’re thrilled out of our minds.
Lots of love!!
