Hey!
It’s Laura here… thought I’d share with you how my morning went today. Good times.
Josh woke up to Kylah this morning (what a good husband!) and I got to sleep for another 15 minutes. This was the start of a good day… or I thought it was.
Around 9:30 – after I had fed Kylah some breakfast. I was doing MY morning routine… checking ALL my email accounts (I’m up to 3 now – 2 for work, 1 for personal), drinking some tea. Kylah usually just plays with her toys on her own at this point. She was playing with this sit-on toy beside me when I all of the sudden, she’s realllllllllly quiet. For all of you who have kids, you know that this isn’t a good sign. I looked down to check out what was going on and I see POO all over the floor (thank goodness for hardwood!), all over the toy, all over her hands. I tried not to freak out but Kylah just looked at me and must’ve seen some horror in my eyes because she started crying (it was like she was embarrassed – poor girl). I didn’t want the mess to get anywhere else so I just quickly picked her up and took her right to the sink to clean her up. I took off her diaper, washed her ‘lil bum and hands and stuck her on the floor. Then I had to go clean up everything on the toy and the floor…. somehow it ended up halfway across the room (NO idea how it got there). After I got everything all clean, I needed to bleach the sink and the counter and everything in sight. Now that I’m pregnant, my gag reflexes are super strong. Even brushing my teeth makes me gag. So, by this point, I had slowed down enough to realize what actually happened and the smell – oh the smell – of “it” made me gag hard enough to throw up. So ya, I’m throwing up in the sink that I just bleached clean. Thank goodness I hadn’t had breakfast yet.
Oh ya, and then after that Kylah screeching for some reason. It wasn’t a cry, it was a screech… for about 30 minutes. No idea why. Poor kid. I feel bad for her… I thought diapers were supposed to hold in the poo? I guess I was wrong.
Ok, now onto The Mom Show… about a year ago I noticed a casting call for The Mom Show on the Slice Network. I watch that show all the time – I like it… it’s not the best, but it’s pretty good for being Canadian. Anyway a producer emailed me right back and asked me to fill out an application form and what I’d like to talk about if I was on the show. I filled it out and said I’d love to chat about c-sections and my experience etc. So just 2 weeks ago I got a call from another producer and they wanted to interview me over the phone to see if I was a good candidate for the show they were taping on c-sections, VBACs (if you don’t know what this is, either google it, or ask your mom.
) and other labour medical interventions. I was super excited and they seemed to like me… well it ended up that they did and they called me back that very day and asked me to be on the show. It was taping on May 29th (this past Tuesday).
What a great experience!! I was able to bring Kylah with me because they have an on-set, on-camera playroom with ECE workers and Nanny Robina. Everyone was super friendly and laid back. They’re so used to kids which is nice. Taping the show was great. It wasn’t one where the moms could have a lot of discussion and input – but I made up my mind that I was gonna get my words in there whenever I could! I went there to get on TV and I was determined. haha! There was a dermatologist that was a guest for the day and I got to be her “model” for applying acne cream (funny since I’ve never had an issue with acne) and sunscreen. Lucky me got nice close ups for that!! YAY!
Kylah was a gem. She had so much fun playing tea party in the playroom with the other little girls and making crafts. She didn’t even know what was going on… little does she know she’s a tv star now. ![]()
I’m not sure when it will air, but I’m told that it’ll be sometime in the fall. They’re going to call me when they have the schedule figured out. Can’t wait to see it…. and you can guarentee that I’ll be letting you all know when it’s on!
Hope you’re having a great day. We’ll be posting pictures soon!
