You read it right. I don’t think I can explain in words, so I’ll let the videos do that for me. There is also two videos of Laura hiding on Kylah, and a fourth video of Kylah giving HIGH FIVES. They are just plain cute 
So I’m at work walking down the hall to my office after recycling some things and making a few drop-offs to various offices, when I get a phone call from Laura:
Josh: “Hello?”
Laura (excitedly): “Hi! You’ll never guess what!”
Josh: “What?”
Laura: “Kylah took her FIRST STEP!!! Yes you did, didn’t you!!!(to Kylah in background)”
Josh: “No way, really??”
Laura: “YES!! She totally did! (again to Kylah:) KYLAH! COME HERE, coooome hhhheeeeree hehehehhheh wwweee! OOOps Bonk! Come on You can do it yes you caaaaaaann coooooommme on Kylah coooome heeeeeere ooops Bonk! you can do it…
(Josh puts phone on speaker for the rest of the office to hear:)
(Laura continued…) You can do it! Come ooooooon! Cooooome ooooooooon yeesssss you can do it wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! (back to talking to Josh:) SHE JUST TOOK TWO MORE STEPS IN A ROW!!!!”
So as you can imagine it was a very exciting day for us. The setting was Sarah and Chris’ place in Markham where Laura was taking care of Abbey for the day. And while she didn’t capture the steps on video, she did get these two videos for you to enjoy… and don’t fret, we will undoubtedly get Kylah walking on video soon.

Wow. Time is going by waaaaaaaay too fast. I didn’t realize that it had been so long since our last post. A few of you have been bugging us to get some more pictures and videos up here and you get your wish! Check out the pictures and videos at the bottom of this post.
Life has been GREAT lately! Kylah is just getting cuter and cuter everyday. The more and more her personality comes out, the more and more we love her to death. It’s so incredible to watch her learn new things which seem to happen minute by minute. It’s so facinating to us. I kinda feel like she’s our little science experiment or something. haha! Believe it or not, she’s almost walking. I just know that one of these days she’s going to let go and take off. We’re hoping that doesn’t happen before Florida though. It’ll be much easier if she’s just crawling… mind you, she does get around pretty quickly doing her little bum/leg shuffle. Kylah and I are flying down to Florida on March 7th, meeting my parents there and then Josh and my brother David are driving down and getting there by the Saturday. It’s gonna be amazing to get away to the warm weather. It’s going to be so much fun with Kylah… playing in the pool, relaxing in the sun…mmm. Can’t wait!
So, what’s happened this past month?? Let me try to remember….
1. Kylah and I made our way over to Josh’s Nan’s house in Scarborough with Noonie for a really nice lunch visit with Aunt Marg, cousin Kim, Nanny and Noonie. It’s always fun and we have many many laughs. Kylah always seems to be the centre of attention somehow. 
2. At Christmas I gave Josh a certificate for our first night away from Kylah for Feb. 3rd. I had booked a Winterlicious special at The Drake Hotel including dinner and a night in a room there. We were really looking forward to it but I was of course really nervous to leave our little girl for a whole night! The first time is always the hardest I’ve been told. It worked out that my sister Sarah (oh, and of course Chris! ) could take care of her so that made me feel even better. It’s nice because Abbey and Kylah get along so great, they already have a really special bond so they just kinda entertain themselves…. until Abbey starts standing on Kylah… haha. Anyway… it ended up that it worked out better for us to leave Kylah with Sarah for two nights instead of just one so that made me even more nervous! A WHOLE weekend without her??!! So, we left Kylah and drove home on the Friday night… which was very strange by the way… and slept in until noon on Saturday. I don’t remember the last time the both of us were able to do that TOGETHER. Once we got out of bed, we made some coffee, had some lunch and then at around 4:00 headed down to the hotel. We got into our room, which was nice enough, and then went down to the dining room for dinner at 6:00. Our waitress told us about this jazz trio that was playing in the Lounge later on that night and about a dance party that was happening starting at 11:00pm. We didn’t really think anything of that and decided instead to hop on the streetcar and head over to see a movie. We got back to hotel at around midnight and came back to a LOOOONNNG line up outside of the hotel with velvet ropes and bouncers. haha. We walked up to the front of the line and the bouncer said to us “how can I help you?” and I said “uhhh… we have a room here” and then showed him our room key. He stepped aside and we felt so cool jumping the line. Anyway we got in the hotel and there was VERY loud music in the lobby. We went up to our room and all we could hear was “boom, boom, boom… ” the sound of dance music. Ugh… not really our idea of romantic music. We tried to sleep anyway and tried to mask the noise by turning up the room fan. At around 2am, we heard this man outside of our door talking as loud as he could on a cell phone talking about alcohol policy and the police…. Josh peeked his head out the door and saw that it was a staff member!!!!!!! He tried to get his attention but he ignored Josh completely. So rude. That was our last straw so we called down to the front desk and told them that we weren’t happy and that we were going home. So at 2:30am we were on our way in our freezing cold car to have a nice sleep in our own bed. hahaha! It was pretty funny actually. Both of us weren’t really disappointed… we were more annoyed. They should’ve told us that there was going to be a dance party ALLL night before we booked the room there. They are still a hotel. If we were partiers, it wouldve been a great place, but not for a romantic night away. The customer service recovery was great. They were so embarrassed and offered us to come for another dinner on them (of course). We’ll do that soon because the dinner was fantastic. We slept in again on Sunday and then picked Kylah up at around 3:00!
2. After that weekend away, Kylah got pink eye! Who knows where she got it from, but it wasn’t very nice… she didn’t seem too bothered by it and she wasn’t rubbing her eyes at all. Her eyes weren’t even pink. I took her to a walk-in and got a prescription for antibiotic eye drops. It cleared up after a couple of days. Now Josh has it… yay!
3. Last weekend we went up to the Peneycad’s cottage with Bryan and Erika Henkelman, Will and Mer Luke and Craig Henkelman. It was SOOOOOOOO much fun. We just had a blast all together. Us girls had some great chats and got to know eachother better, and the guys well….. played poker, playstation/gamecube and other things. I guess it’s their idea of a good weekend! The weather was so incredible on Saturday so I spent some time outside with Kylah (see the pictures). She wasn’t too sure about it and I don’t blame her. It’s a little hard to enjoy something when you’re so confined! She likes to be free to crawl and move her arms. haha. All in all it was a great weekend… it went too fast and I think we all gained about 10 lbs each!! We seriously couldn’t even think of eating anything else for the rest of the night on Sunday after we left. I was even still full on Monday! I think we’ll make it a yearly thing… or maybe twice a year…or maybe we’ll buy a cottage all together and go up every weekend. haha!
4. I’m not officially working for Empty Tray. It’s basically a company that contracts people (mostly women, and mostly stay at home moms) out to businesses to help them out with misc admin work and projects! The great thing is, I can work from home and I can pretty much choose my hours and how many hours I can give. It’s just started so it’s pretty slow at the moment, but it’s seriously such a blessing for now. I couldn’t have asked for a better situation. Thank you all for praying for me about this! Somehow I’ve actually gained excitement to start working again…. and that’s what I’ve prayed for and have asked for prayer for and it’s happened.
5. Yesterday, I took care of Violet Daly. She’s exactly 10 weeks older than Kylah and such a cutie! I was a little worried about how crazy it could get with two little ones but it was great! Violet is such a well behaved little girl and Kylah adores her. They got along really really well and Kylah just looks at her and giggles. Hi everyone! I’m very sorry lakefamily.ca has been down the last week or so, but we’re back! Lots has happened, so expect some updates and photos and videos very soon!
