A monthly occurance

That is the frequency of our posts lately. Seems to be trending that way – all part in parcel with having a baby and living in North America I guess. But that’s not to say I can’t make this an enjoyable monthly occurance :-)

So what has the Lake family been up to lately? Well, a cool thing Laura and I did was go to the TSO to hear a Louis Armstrong type guy – wish I could remember his name ’cause he was good. The funny thing though, was that we were sitting one section over from my Grandma, Aunt Marg, and Uncle Mike! They have seasons tickets and we happened to get tickets right there next to them!

What else? Well, I had a birthday! I am now 27 years old. That’s right – mid-to-late 20′s… at least for another 6 months, then I will concede to being LATE-20′s. Anyway, enough of that nonsense. I had a great birthday this year. Laura let me sleep in and made me a big breakfast, which I love. And she made possibly the best salmon dinner I have ever eaten. I also got a care package from my sister Bree containing 2 lbs of Starbucks coffee (THANK YOU!!!!!!), and my mom gave me a big bottle of Bailey’s (mmmmmmmm!!!).

Oh and we took Kylah on her first trip to the Science Centre! That was fun – there was a Marvel Comic section there which was neat. You got to see how the different heroes powers worked from a scientific perspective. I’m sure Kylah didn’t understand what was going on but it was pretty cute.

And this past weekend I flew out to Winnipeg and drove all the way out to Whitedog, Ontario… click here for a Google map. And why would I be all the way out there you ask? Well, I am on the board of directors for Agidasin Initiatives, which is a ministry to First Nations founded by my friends Austin and Rachel Taylor. They live in Whitedog (which is an Aboriginal reserve) with their daughters Joanne and Bella (see photo album). That was a great time for me – my first trip to Whitedog, so seeing Austin and Rachel in their place of home and ministry was so great. That is interesting stuff – being on a Board – and boy do we have lots to learn about it.

Okay, finally some news on Kylah’s hemangioma. We finally got the call to arrange an appointment for an MRI for Kylah, which should answer some more questions about the hemangioma, such as how deep does it go, should it be treated, etc. That is December 6, so please keep us in prayer and hopefully we’ll have results back shortly thereafter. I have heard it can take a couple of weeks to get results, but we will see.
Well that’s about it for the sum-up of our November. As always, I will let the photos tell some more of the story.

What should the title of this post be?

Hey… Laura here.
I’m really not in a super creative mood and I couldn’t think of a title so I just wrote that… haha.

Last weekend was a busy one for the Lake family! Friday, Kylah and I went down to the Baby and Toddler Show at the Convention Centre with Sarah and Abbey and also Amber and Sloan. It was lots of fun – well, not really fun, but more something to do. I don’t mind those kinds of things but you definately can’t spend too much time. It gets really draining with so many people around and so many businesses trying to get your info to send you junk mail. There were some good deals, not great, but I ended up spending $70.00. We went out for lunch after. What a feat eating peacefully with three babies! It was a really nice visit and all in all a good day. Kylah and I went back with Sarah and Abbey to their apartment to hang out for the rest of the afternoon and then Josh and Chris came home from work and we all had dinner there. It’s always so nice hanging out with them because it’s just so relaxed! When we’re together we don’t feel like someone needs to host. If I want something to drink, I’ll just go get it… anyway, after watching The Break Up, Josh and Chris went into the hot tub and Sarah and I just hung out for a bit. I felt so bad because I put my head down on a pillow and fell fast asleep! I woke up at around 12:30 so confused as to where I was and then for some reason started worrying about Kylah. When I got my bearings straight, I went into Sarah’s room and found her in her pajamas asleep in her bed!!! haha… so ya, that’s how relaxed it is when we hang out with them.

So then on Saturday we just had a relaxing morning but then met up with Alicia Peneycad and her boyfriend Darrin for dinner at Boston Pizza near the airport. It’s always good to catch up with them!! After that, we all (minus Darrin because he’s in the middle of mid-terms) went over to Westmount Park Church for the new Master’s Four cd release party. It was really special because all four of their fathers were there to sing the old song Faith of Our Fathers. I couldn’t believe how emotional it was seeing them all up there. What a great evening!

Steph, my sister came over after the cd release concert to sleep over and we ended up dying her hair dark brown! I think it looks soooooo good on her and it’s a nice change for the winter.

Sunday morning we went to church and then at 3:00 we met the Holt side of the family at Jack Astors at Scarborough Town Centre for a surprise 75th birthday dinner for my Grandpa Holt. Mmmm… coconut curry. So good… oh ya, the family time was good too! After that… yes, there’s more… we ALL went over to Sheppard Manor for another Masters Four concert. This time was special too because we had another surprise for my grandpas birthday. We had a song prepared for us all to get up and sing to him during the concert! Yes, allllll of us got up including the babies AND Chris (despite his strong opposition towards it). It was really great and a little rough, but meaningful anyway.

Okay, I plan to upload some recent photos and write a decent post soon, but this is something really cute I had to share. Zoe called and left another message for Kylah – we love it when she does that, and I’m sure you do too because it makes for hilarious blog content. Anyway, for your listening pleasure, Zoe’s message is below. There is a story behind the “song for Kylah” I’ll tell at another time. Oh and apparently after she hung up Zoe kept talking to the phone for another 5 minutes!! Hahahaha too cute!
Enjoy!!
