Hey Everyone!! It’s Laura here!
It’s been soooo long since I’ve written a post on here so I thought that since it’s a rainy day in the Muskoka’s, I’d write one!
Life’s still fantastic up at camp. I can’t believe summer’s almost half over already! Time goes by so quickly up here. We’ve been keeping really busy between leading Bible Studies, hanging out with friends, one2ones (all summer staff are assigned leadership staff to meet with once a week for an hour)… it’s great! It’s kind of hard to find a routine up here with Kylah because there are so much going on but it’s getting better. I stay at the trailer quite a bit just so Kylah can actually sleep in her own bed. That was difficult at first just because I felt like I was so out of the loop with everything but I’ve just resolved that this is what it’s like this summer. Next summer will be completely different because she’ll be over a year old and only need 1 or 2 naps a day. She’s still napping almost everytime she eats which is 6 times a day. It’s crazy how much sleep babies need!
We haven’t posted a photo album for a while so we have two for you today! This first one is mostly of Kylah. There’s a few at the end of me doing the zip line for ladies night. It was loads of fun but hard work climbing up on the cargo net!! Enjoy these!
The next photo album is of the past week or so… Josh’s sister Bree, her husband and their daughter Zoe have been back in Ontario for a two week vacation. They’re staying at Aunt Marg’s cottage which is only an hour away from camp so we’ve been able to spend LOTS of time with them!! It’s been soooo much fun. Especially because we haven’t seen Zoe since last September and they hadn’t met Kylah yet! The two cousins together are adorable. It’s really fun to see the difference in size and development between the two! We’ve had so many adventures so far but here’s one story for ya…
We had been inside the cottage for most of the day and so Bree and I were getting a little antsy. We bathed the babies, passed them over to our husbands and decided to go for a swim across the lake. I’m definately not a super strong swimmer and I’m so out of shape but Bree is miss athletic in shape girl. I cannot compete with her. Anyway… she decided that we should do 30 second intervals in a spot and then keep swimming slowly back to the cottage. It was fun until……. we noticed this beaver swimming rather closely beside us. We weren’t worried at all because we figured it would be scared of us. But then it swam in front of us, a little closer this time. And THEN it swam on the other side of us even closer. We started to get really nervous. BUT THEN, it went under the water. We were freaking out at this point. Both of us had a scene from jaws in our minds and were just waiting for big sharp beaver teeth to sink into our legs. We swam as fast as we could yelling at our husbands to save us. We were both sincerely afraid…. kinda creepy. All that to say, we didn’t go swimming after that.
Here’s a few pictures of our time with Bree, Eric and Zoe!
